Stanley Martin Leiber
Stanley Martin Leiber who is famously known as Stan Lee was born in December 28, 1922 in New York City and died in November 12, 2018 in Los Angeles, California. Stan Lee was a venerated comic-book writer who co-launched superheroes like The Fantastic Four, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and the X-Men for Marvel Comics. Stan Lee was the ambassador of Marvel. He made cameos in every movie that was adapted from Marvel. Stan Lee and his colleagues not only created divine art but also invented universes and alternate realities full of superheroes and supervillains with the dynamic ability to shape lives of the people who read them.
Hollywood Cinema
Cinema, or motion picture, is the visual medium that tells stories and exposes reality and is arguably the most popular medium of entertainment. However, cinema is a word that we no longer use. The term has evolved into “Movies” or “Films” that nearly everyone enjoys preferably with a bowl of popcorn. The 1930 was the start of something great. The American film industry saw a peak, Cinema evolved and movies became longer. Sounds were added and Hollywood came into being.

Marvel comics was founded in January 12, 1939 as “Timely Comics.” Founded by Martin Goodman, The “Marvel Era” itself began in 1961, when the company launched The Fantastic Four and other superhero titles created by Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby and many others. The comics are based on superheroes that we have come to love: Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Wolverine, the Silver Surfer, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, the Punisher and Deadpool. The super-villains: Thanos, Doctor Doom, Galactus, Magneto, Ultron, Green Goblin, Red Skull, Loki, Venom and Doctor Octopus were nothing less amazing than the superheroes Marvel fans have come to idealize. Marvel comic stories are regularly being adapted into games, films, live shows, television programs, theme parks etc. Marvel studios, LLC which is originally known as “Marvel Films” was founded on December 7, 1993. It is basically a fictional superhero genre based production house with all the characters being legally adapted from Marvel comics. Marvel studios have had some great releases since 2008 within the MCU and has released 23 films from 2008 to 2019.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Marvel Cinematic Universe also known as MCU films are an American series of superhero films based on characters that appear in the Marvel comics. The MCU is the shared universe in which all of the films are set. The films have been in production since 2007 and MCU has produced and released 23 films with nine more in various stages of production. It is the highest-grossing film franchise of all time, having grossed over $18.6 billion at the global box office.
The Phases of MCU
There are three phases of MCU so far which have collectively been called “The Infinity Saga”.
Phase One
Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), Captain America: The first avenger (2011), The incredible Hulk (2008) with the Avengers (2012) crossover.
Phase Two
Iron Man 3 (2013), Thor: The dark world (2013), Captain America: The winter soldier (2014), Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. I (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Ant-Man (2015).

From Iron Man to Captain Marvel box office gross total is $18,621,266,135 with the total budget of $3.905-4.201 billion. Surprisingly, none of the movies have flopped or had losses.
Comic Books or Movies?
Now comes the question which mankind has been trying to answer since the beginning of time, or at least since books started being made into movies. Which one is more appreciated: Comic books or movies? Well, both are equally appreciated but the movies from Marvel are more comprehensive than any media. Because when it comes to comic books, the audience is limited. However, when it comes to movies, the audience is vast and people prefer watching more than reading. And not every age of audience is going to read comics but every age of audience is going to watch movies. The movies make the characters more prominent. People have more knowledge about the characters and the actors who played them. And after back to back hit films, people expect good films from Marvel.
DC or Marvel?
Similar to Marvel, DC movies are also superhero based and the battle between the fans of these universes can get epic from time to time. However, unlike Marvel, DC movies are more intense. DC movies are famous amongst adults whereas Marvel movies are more accepting among young adults, teenagers and even children. In DC movies, the characters were born with powers so that look a bit unrealistic. On the other hand, in Marvel movies, at first the characters are like normal human but later acquired powers which look more realistic.
In Marvel movies, they provide enough information for the viewers to understand the concept whereas, in DC movies, they have lack of information. This does not apply to every movie but only a few of them. Some of the character’s story were not portrayed well in DC movies. So, it is a big malfunction on their behalf. Marvel movies are pre-planned. DC movies are not. However, both Marvel and DC, are well appreciated and accepted among viewers.
Why are MCU movies famous?
MCU movies are acceptable among every gender and age. Specifically, those who love superhero genre movies love MCU. Unlike other chronological movies, Marvel movies are more organized with understandable screenplay, impressive sets and costumes, good lighting, good direction and amazing casting. The Movies In total, there are 23 films so far. They got released from 2008 till 2019.
Avengers: Endgame (The Biggest Blockbuster Movie in MCU)
Avengers: Endgame being the last movie in the phase three of MCU, is probably the biggest blockbuster movie of 2019. This film has reportedly been termed as an end of an era due to the major plot twist. This movie is marvelous for many reasons. First of all, not only did it break all the records but also it created an emotional echelon among audience.
Secondly, the budget of this movie is $356 million and within four days this movie collected $1.222 billion worldwide, which is quite a feat to achieve. Thirdly, the audience waited for about a year for this movie so the hype was real. Last but not the least, this film holds a lot of emotions and is very well portrayed.
Are the actors being appreciated enough?
Everyone who loves watching Marvel movies also love the characters and more likely love those actors who played them. Actors like Robert Downey Jr who played the role of Iron Man was considered as perfect fit for the role. Actors like Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawk Eye and many more actors are have received tremendous appreciation for playing their iconic roles.
How do Hollywood movies influence Bangladeshi people?
Depending on the genre of the movie, there are different audiences. If the movie is sophisticated it is most likely for adults. In addition, if it is more of a comedy or a romance then it is more likely for teenagers or young adults. However, because of English movies, there are less viewers for Bangla cinema which is also due to having less knowledge about our culture and media industry.
Mad Rush in STAR Cineplex
STAR Cineplex was launched on December 19, 2002. Since then, both English and Bengali movies, were released and are still releasing and earning good money. Star Cineplex is a go to for the citizens of Dhaka whenever a new movie is released. Not to mention when any of the Marvel movies are released there’s always a full audience at Cineplex. However, Avengers: Endgame being the biggest blockbuster movie in the MCU broke all the records. Both the branches of the theatre saw a phenomenal rush for tickets. People stood in line for hours to get for tickets and it was indeed something to see.
