Riaz Uddin Raihan – The Cineperson Fall 2019

CinePedia Desk

The CinePerson award is a recognition to be given a member for his or her contrbution to CinemaScope. That honor has been bestowed upon yet another person on a humid day of the Fall 2019 semester, Riaz Uddin Raihan. From a candidate to the Festival Director of the Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival 2019, Riaz marked his own way through the journey with CinemaScope.

Riaz Uddin Raihan was born and raised in Puran Dhaka with a great taste in cultural activities.  During his childhood, he played hockey from class 5 to 12th. After his admission to ULAB, he learned about Cinemascope. He joined CinemaScope in his 2nd semester. The main reason behind joining CinemaScope is to know about the aesthetics of films; to know about pre-production, shooting, and post-production. And also, to learn how to make a film. Even though “producer” has a nice ring to everyone in the film industry, Riaz’s interest and expertise in filmmaking is production management. He found his comfort zone as the production manager in many projects. He was delighted to join the Cinemascope’s executive body as production secretary, in his 3rd semester. Gradually, he got the position of human resource manager. He stated that he enjoyed it the most when he was HR Manager. Through this work, his communication skills have improved a lot. Riaz cherishes the memories of all the events, webinars, masterclasses, workshops, general meetings, and finally DIMFF 2019, all these he got from CinemaScope. Riaz Uddin Raihan states his favorite filmmaker is Rajkumar Hirani and his ultimate favorite film is 3 Idiots, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Riaz Uddin Raihan is now working as a freelancer in the industry. The message he sent to the present members was: “If you want to learn about cinema then join CinemaScope, because, in CinemaScope, past and present members will guide you to love and follow different genres of cinema and also you’ll meet some of the inspiring guests and mentors at various events.”
