In Summer 2020, CinePerson Award went to Mohammad Farhad Hossain for for his remarkable efforts to CinemaScope.
Farhad was born and raised in the United Arab Emirates. His primary and secondary education was from Bangladesh Islamia school in Abu Dhabi. His childhood was fascinating as this was habit in his family to watch a movie together every thursday night. He believes that ocassion aspired him to be a storyteller. He used to share his created stories with his friends and got appreciated from them. He knew a little about Cinemascope before joining the program. Although he made his way to get into the interview and got selected. While participating in a pre-production workshop, he first realized his passion towards filmmaking.
He joined the Cinemascope’s Executive body as the Brand Manager. Gradually, got the position of Production Manager and contributed in CinemaScope for its betterment. He worked in different sectors of production. He directed the film “Interval” under CinemaScope. This film was an official selection in the Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival 2020 and was also nominated in the Top Ten films of the Tareque Masud Short Film Competition 2020. Simultaneously, he has been working on promo making for DIMFF for the past couple of years. He successfully accomplished his duties as the Festival Supervisor of the DIMFF 2020 and as the Submission Manager of the DIMFF 2021. Farhad Hossain states his favorite filmmaker is Christopher Nolan, Rajkumar Hirani, Satyajit Ray and his favorite films are 3 Idiots, Pather Panchali, Infrastructure. He believes that the Bangladeshi Film Industry is in transition. It might take 10 years or so to reach a significant position for Bangladeshi films.
As the message he intends to give the present members, he stated “cinemascope is a place where you can learn many things. It is a voluntary organization and you will learn from your own mistakes and challenges. The most important thing is to keep going forward. You must work for your own self first then work for anything else”.
