Atkia Adiba Binti
ULAB Media Studies and Journalism student Atkia Adiba Binti has been selected as the recipient of the Spring 2021 CinePerson Awards, a prestigious award conferred to the most active member of CinemaScope.
Born in Rangpur’s Lalmonirhat, Atkia’s hobbies include drawing, watching movies, travelling, gardening, and planting trees. She had no interest in cinema and had no idea that she would be working with cinema until she joined CinemaScope during her first semester at ULAB. During her initial days she worked in a production of CinemaScope titled Friday as a storyboard artist and a costume designer. It was during this production that she discovered a new-found interest in working with cinema. She went in to work as a line producer in a short-film titled Kkhuda or Hunger. Ever since joining CinemaScope, she took part in a number of workshops, master classes, film reading sessions, and is now working in the executive panel of CinemaScope. Her favourite event organized by CinemaScope so far is ‘Shot by Shot’ where a film’s specific shots were discussed in the presence of a filmmaker.
Now an avid lover of cinema and its technicalities, Atkia is a big fan of the iconic Satyajit Ray. From being a person who took little interest in cinema, she also went on to work as an assistant director for a WaterAid-HSBC documentary.
